Mick Hutton is one of the finest bass players the UK has ever produced. He emerged on to the scene alongside talents such as Iain Ballamy & Django Bates, and all three were recruited by drummer Bill Bruford to form the band Earthworks. Mick's CV is incredible, and includes working with John Scofield, Peter Erskine, John Taylor, Stan Tracey & Kenny Wheeler. Due to a hand injury he has now switched from double to electric bass, and has formed this dynamic new group with Andy Panayi - saxes, Barry Green - piano & Paul Robinson - drums. Andy Panayi is one of the UK's most in demand jazz & session reeds players, appearing at many festivals with the likes of Alan Barnes and Mark Nightingale, and has recorded with Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and many more. Barry Green is a rising star of the London scene, and brought his own quartet to the club in January. Drummer Paul Robinson also has an amazing CV including nineteen years with Nina Simone and gigs with Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Elton John, The Pet Shop Boys and loads more. This really is an outstanding array of talent, so don't miss it. For a preview of their music go to www.myspace.com/mickhutton

Dale has been playing the piano since he was 7, and studied classical music at Trinity College. While he was there he got into jazz and now plays professionally as a jazz/funk/soul/latin/electronica/DnB keyboardist. Dale usually performs with his piano trio, but last year did a gig with Ben Waghorn added as guest saxophonist which worked so well they were all keen to reunite. Musical influences include Robert Glasper, Chick Corea & Fred Hersch. Dale Hambridge - piano, Tosh Wijetunge - bass, Mark Whitlam - drums plus Ben Waghorn - saxes.

Well known in Bristol for many years, Kevin is beginning to attract national attention with the release of his CD Circular Motion. [Figes] has an inclination to hard, rhythmical swing, and a contrasting gift for composing memorable, sensitive tunes. It's this combination of rich writing with an outstanding band that gives Figes's solo LP such distinction - The Independent. Kevin Figes - alto sax, Jim Blomfield - piano, Riaan Vosloo - bass & Daisy Palmer - drums.

There seems to be a pleasing amount of jazzy music going on at Bristol Uni nowadays, and this is some of the best of it. Pianist Ollie Perkins composes all the music, and the charts are very impressive. Ollie is going on to do a jazz post-grad at Birmingham. He writes - Cattle Market was formed by me and Rich [sax] after we both got obsessed by the 2007 Joe Zawinul Big Band album 'Brown Street', released just before he died. When I was writing the tunes I was basically thinking, take that album and turbo charge it with rock/funk/hip-hop type grooves. A lot of the harmonic ideas in the tunes come from listening to 1960's McCoy Tyner Albums, particularly Time for Tyner and 13th House. The name of the band is a reference to the Weather Report album 'Black Market'. Ollie Perkins - piano, Richard Low - tenor sax, Andy Neil Hayes - alto sax, Toby Lyn - flugal, Matt Birch - tpt, Edd Bateman bass, Elliot Sefton-Nash congas/percussion & Mike Howard - drums.
